Terms of use
Last updated 12 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Hey Potsy. Please read them. If you are a consumer, nothing in them takes away rights the law gives you.
1. Who we are
Hey Potsy is offered by [Company name], [Address], Austria, [Company register number / UID], email hello@heypotsy.com (“we”, “us”).
2. The service
Hey Potsy is a cookbook app for families, used in the browser. It keeps your household’s recipes, meal plan and shopping list, with cook mode and Potsy, an AI helper you can type or talk to. It can import recipes from links, text, photos and videos, plan meals and answer cooking questions.
Hey Potsy is in a beta. We invite people in batches, and features may change, be added or be removed while we learn what families need.
3. Your account
- You need an account to use the app. You sign in with Google or with a code sent to your email.
- The person who creates a household must be an adult. Other members must be at least 16, or have the consent of a parent in the household.
- Keep access to your email and Google account safe. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
- Give us a real email address that you can read.
4. Households
- A household is a family sharing one cookbook. Everything in it is shared: every member can see, change and delete its recipes, plans and lists.
- Members join with an invite link. Only invite people you trust with your household’s data.
- The plan belongs to the household: one plan covers all its members.
- The first member of a household can remove other members.
- When you leave a household, or are removed, you keep your account and get a new, empty household. The recipes and lists stay with the household you left.
- When the last member deletes their account, the household and all its data are deleted.
5. Plans and prices
There are three plans:
- Free: €0, for as long as you like. A cookbook of up to 25 recipes, meal planner, shopping list, cook mode, and Potsy with a one-time welcome allowance.
- Family: €4.99 a month or €49.90 a year. Unlimited recipes, more members and recipe languages, and Potsy with a weekly allowance.
- Sous-chef: €9.99 a month or €99.90 a year. Everything in Family, more members, more of Potsy’s energy each week, and Potsy can look at photos.
Prices include VAT. What each plan includes in detail is shown on our pricing page when you choose it.
During the beta, payments are not live and all plans are free. We may give beta households any plan at no cost. Before we start charging, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance. Nothing is charged unless you choose a paid plan and pay for it. A household that doesn’t choose one moves to Free.
Once payments start, they are handled by Paddle, which sells the plans as our reseller (merchant of record). Paddle’s buyer terms then also apply to the payment.
6. Potsy’s energy (fair use)
Potsy and the other AI features cost us money with every use. So each plan includes a certain amount of AI use, shown in the app as Potsy’s energy:
- On Free, a one-time welcome allowance. When it is used up, the rest of the app stays free; only the AI features stop.
- On Family and Sous-chef, a weekly allowance that is fresh again every Sunday. Sous-chef has more than Family.
- When the energy is used up, nothing new with the AI starts until it is fresh again. Something already started is finished.
- There is nothing to buy in between. Unused energy doesn’t carry over.
The allowance is meant for a family’s normal cooking. We may adjust it to how families really use the app. We will not reduce what a paid plan includes during a period you have already paid for.
The app also limits how often an action can be used in a short time, to protect the service from abuse.
7. Recipes on Free, and after a downgrade
Free keeps up to 25 recipes. If your household has more, for example after a paid plan ends or after moving to a smaller plan:
- the 25 oldest recipes stay fully usable;
- the others can still be opened, read and deleted, but not changed or planned;
- delete one of the 25 and the next one takes its place;
- choose a paid plan again and all of them are usable again.
We don’t delete anything because of a downgrade. You can download all your data at any time.
8. Cancelling
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time, with effect at the end of the current month or year you paid for. Until then, the plan keeps working.
- A plan you don’t cancel renews for the same period, at the price you agreed to. We tell you before a yearly plan renews.
- After it ends, your household moves to Free (see section 7).
- You can delete your account at any time on the account page.
9. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from a paid plan within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. To do so, tell us clearly, for example by email to hello@heypotsy.com, or use the form below. It is enough to send it before the 14 days are over.
If you withdraw, you get back what you paid within 14 days, by the same means of payment, at no cost to you.
When you buy a plan, you can ask for it to start right away, within the withdrawal period. If you do so and confirm that you know your right of withdrawal ends once the service has been fully provided, then: if you withdraw later, you pay for the part of the period you have already used, and you get back the rest.
Withdrawal form (fill in and send it only if you want to withdraw): To [Company name], [Address], hello@heypotsy.com: I hereby withdraw from my contract for the following service: [plan], bought on [date]. Name: … Email address of the account: … Date: …
10. AI answers can be wrong
Potsy and the other AI features write recipes, translate, plan meals, check allergens and answer questions. AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or made up, even when they sound sure. In particular:
- Allergens: the app’s allergy warnings are a help, not a guarantee. Always read the labels of what you buy, and check each recipe yourself if someone in your family has an allergy.
- Food safety: cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs to a safe core temperature, and check it with a thermometer. A photo can’t show if food is cooked inside.
- Health: Potsy gives no medical or nutrition advice. Ask a doctor or dietitian about special diets.
- Imports and translations can change amounts, steps or times. Check a recipe before you cook it.
You decide what you cook and eat. Use your own judgement.
11. Your content
- Your recipes, photos and notes stay yours. You give us the right to store, process, translate and show them to your household, only as needed to run the app for you.
- We don’t publish your recipes and don’t share them with other households.
- Only add content you may use. Recipes you import from websites, books or videos are for your household’s private use. Don’t use Hey Potsy to publish or sell other people’s work.
- Recipe photos can be opened by anyone who has their link (see the privacy policy). Don’t upload private pictures as recipe photos.
12. Acceptable use
Use Hey Potsy for cooking and running your family’s kitchen. Don’t:
- break the law or other people’s rights with it;
- upload anything illegal, harmful or offensive;
- use Potsy as a general chatbot for things unrelated to cooking, or try to get around his limits;
- attack, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or access other households’ data;
- create several accounts to get more free AI use, or resell access to the service.
13. Suspension
If an account breaks these terms, we may limit or suspend it. We will tell you why and give you a chance to explain, unless it is urgent, for example to stop an attack or a crime. For serious or repeated breaches we may end the contract. If we end a paid plan without your fault, we refund the part you paid for and didn’t get.
14. Availability
We work to keep Hey Potsy running, but we can’t promise it is always available or free of errors, especially during the beta. We may need to stop it for maintenance or updates. Keep your own copy of important recipes: you can download them at any time on the account page.
We may change or improve the app. If we make a change that clearly reduces what a paid plan includes, we tell you in advance and you can cancel with a refund of the time you paid for and won’t use.
If we ever close Hey Potsy, we tell you at least 60 days before, refund any time paid for and not used, and leave you time to download your data.
15. Liability
- We are fully liable for damage we cause intentionally or by gross negligence, and for any injury to life, body or health.
- For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach a duty essential to the contract, and only for the damage that was typical and foreseeable when the contract was made. Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence.
- We are not liable for answers by the AI that you could have checked (section 10), to the extent the law allows.
- Liability under the Austrian Product Liability Act, and any other liability the law doesn’t allow us to limit, stays unaffected.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for new features or a change in the law. We tell you about changes by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then. Changes to the price or to the main things a paid plan includes need your consent; we will never change them by notice alone.
17. Law and disputes
Austrian law applies, without its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and we can only sue you there.
The EU’s online dispute resolution platform has been closed. We will try to solve any problem with you directly first: write to hello@heypotsy.com. Consumers can also turn to the Internet Ombudsstelle (www.ombudsstelle.at) or the Schlichtung für Verbrauchergeschäfte (www.verbraucherschlichtung.at). [We are / are not willing to take part in these procedures.]
